Educational Leadership & Administration Program Faculty
Dr. Osanloo is a Professor in Educational Leadership & Administration. She is the former inaugural Co-Director of the School of Teacher Preparation, Administration, and Leadership (TPAL) and Stan Fulton Endowed Chair for the Improvement of Border and Rural Schools in the College of Education. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin – Madison; her Master’s Degree in Public Policy from The Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service at New York University; and her Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the Fulton Teachers College at Arizona State University.
Her research agenda focuses on issues of educational equity; educational leadership and policy; diversity, multiculturalism, and human rights; and social justice. She has published five co-edited books, over 40+ reviewed publications, and had 50-plus inter/national presentations. She has guided 30+ doctoral students to successful completion – all with studies that emphasize the core tenets of social justice leadership. In addition, she previously worked to increase marginalized student representation in the STEM fields via school-community gardens and created the Youth Leadership Academy, a partnership with the local police department designed to improve community and police relations.
Since coming to NMSU in 2006, she has provided teaching, research, and service/outreach in educational leadership and administration, specifically focusing on K-20 leadership. She teaches courses in the areas of: educational leadership, social justice & educational equity, law and policy, educational theory, dissertation seminar, and qualitative research methods.
She has won the Dean’s Awards for her teaching and service; is a 2015 recipient of the American Graduate Champion Award – an award bestowed by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting; and won the Ngage New Mexico Educator Award in 2017 for her social justice work at NMSU and in the community. Most recently, in 2020, she was selected to serve on Governor Lujan Grisham’s Advisory Council for Racial Justice in New Mexico.
