Lilian Cibils is an Assistant Professor in the TESOL/Bilingual Education Program in the College of Education. Her major areas of research are home-school relations, immigrant parent involvement, and narrative analysis. Some of her specific lines of inquiry include: anti-deficit perspectives in family-school relations; definitions of parental involvement by diverse populations; qualitative research in multilingual contexts; and counter narratives. Her book, Immigration, Motherhood and Parental Involvement, published in January 2017, is based on the findings of a qualitative case study. One of her current research projects, funded by a College of Education Emerging Scholars Grant, focuses on Arab women’s definitions of their role in their children’s education in the SW of the United States.
