Biography

Dr. Tobi Parry Collins is a Visiting Assistant Professor in the School of Teacher Preparation, Administration, and Leadership at New Mexico State University. Having earned a bachelor's degree in Adolescence Education and English, they went on to pursue a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a specialization in Language, Literacy, and Culture. Following that, in 2018 they earned their PhD in the same field along with a minor in Gender and Sexuality Studies from NMSU. Dr. Parry Collins’ dissertation focused on the experiences of school-based support for queer youth in the borderlands and they continue to engage in research around queering educational spaces and increasing opportunity for marginalized learners. After earning their doctorate, Dr. Parry Collins worked in teacher education teaching courses and supervising pre-service teachers in their practicum and student teaching experiences in the K-12 public schools in New Mexico.
