Biography

Dr. Renay Scott is a professor in the Educational Leadership and Administration program and has worked over 40 years in education with over 20 years of leadership and administration experience in higher education, spanning two-year, four year, public and private institutions in both academic and student affairs leadership positions. Dr. Scott’s research interests include the history of higher education, education policy, leadership theory and American history curriculum and methods. One of Dr. Scott’s research interests focuses on the application of primary source documents for history and social studies curriculum focuses upon helping educators ground their instruction in historical methods and thinking. Dr. Scott has presented and published on higher education in New Mexico, assessment in academic and student affairs, character education, enrollment management and gender identity.  Dr. Scott holds a doctorate degree in curriculum and instruction from Wanye State University, a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Michigan State University, a master’s degree in American History from American Public University and a bachelor’s degree in social studies education from Calvin University.
